Personal background. With 30 years experience in HR roles in the automotive, oil service, information and telecommunications industries - much of it overseas - I have significant experience in coaching and counseling people and supporting them to maximize their potential for personal fulfillment in the business context.

Psychotherapy training. Since returning to Scotland in 2000 and deciding to switch careers, I have myself undergone considerable in-depth experiential and theoretical training with the Edinburgh Gestalt Institute and following my graduation am undertaking further personal and skills development with the Metanoia Institute in London.

Gestalt Psychotherapy. I particularly enjoy working as a Gestalt Therapist. The approach is holistic - it engages with the whole person, thoughts, feelings, body processes; it is existential - it focuses on what is going on now, in the present, informed perhaps by old, often learned, patterns of behaviour; and it is dialogic - wholly dependant on what arises in the working relationship between the client and the therapist. In essence, the Gestalt approach supports greater personal awareness of behavioural patterns, leads to wider choice, and enables people to take full responsibility for themselves and their actions.

Areas of Interest. My professional interest is genuinely open to whatever issues a client may wish to explore, and I have a particular interest in personal growth and transformation, interpersonal relationships, family systems and depression.
